A Tale Worthy Nursery – The Fisherman and His Wife

This week’s nursery decor theme turns out to be very timely. We are in the sign of Pisces after all. If you don’t believe in all that astrology stuff, no problem, we’ll just have to stick to the original inspiration: the story “The Fisherman and His Wife”. A poor fisherman catches a magic fish, but at his wife’s request asks for more and more favors, until the fish’s patience runs dry.

A Tale Worthy Nursery – The Queen Bee

Dreaming of spring in the middle of winter: it’s all about bees and sunshine!

This week’s Etsy finds accompany our “Queen Bee” print. The story talks about the unlikeliest of heroes who, by protecting some small creatures, makes them his allies. With their help, he achieves what others stronger but less kind than him were not able to.

Stay warm,

Adina

A Tale Worthy Nursery – The Frog Prince

’Open the door, my princess dear,
Open the door to thy true love here!
And mind the words that thou and I
said
By the fountain cool, in the greenwood
shade.’

That is how the Frog is calling on the princess to keep her promise of making him her friend. Happily, she does.

Our fourth nursery decor list is inspired by the best known story from the “Picture a Tale” set of prints: “The Frog Prince”.

Enjoy and don’t be afraid sometimes to kiss some frogs!

A Tale Worthy Nursery – The Willow Wren and the Bear

The second story and the second nursery decor list from our series: “The Willow Wren and the Bear”.

A curious bear wants to see the house of the Bird King, the wren, but, disappointed by the simple nest, he ends up offending the young wrens. The princes of the flying kingdom will not let this pass without some serious consequences for the bear.

This time, I chose earth-tones, with a some yellow gold to honor the King of the Birds. A lot of fun to put together!

Enjoy!

A Tale Worthy Nursery – Old Sultan

Here it is: a new series of blog posts!

Since Picture a Tale sells nursery artwork, what better way to show it off than by pairing it with other beautiful pieces of nursery decor. So each week, for the next seven weeks, I will feature one of the stories that inspired my prints. Lately, I have been spending some time (some might say more than just “some time”…) browsing through Etsy and finding all sorts of wonderful handmade and vintage products. The choice is overwhelming!

This week, the story that gives us the background is “Old Sultan”. A shepherd dog is on the point of being chased away by his master because he is too old, so, with the help of his friend, the wolf, he devises a plan to show how useful he still is. Things get a little complicated when the wolf asks for a favor in return. Here are a few things for an “Old Sultan” inspired nursery:
